Ministry of Care Christ is truly present in the Holy Eucharist. When we consume the Body of Christ, we are bringing God into ourselves. As we are taught, the Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” Christ within us puts us in touch with God in a way that nothing else can. But what if someone cannot come to Mass because he or she is sick, homebound, or hospitalized? How can that person receive the Body of Christ, to be in touch with God? The Ministry of Care offers a way for us to help those who cannot attend Mass. Through this ministry, people are trained in how to bring the Eucharist to others, how to bring God’s comfort through the word and sacrament of God. If you would like to join this ministry, the Archdiocese offers training from September 28 through October 26. Please click here for more information.
Jesus Christ is truly present in the Eucharist. His life-giving offering provides food for our souls, brings us hope and peace. To be in the presence of Jesus means that we are with God and God is with us. Yet too often we forget this. We receive the Eucharist without stopping to think what it truly means to receive the Eucharist with joy, to know that we have God within us and to bring ourselves and God into the world. Look at the shining faces of the children receiving their First Communion. They know that they are in the presence of something that is wonderful. Can we who are older do the same? The National Eucharistic Revival is meant to reawaken our joy and our hope, remind ourselves that we are in the presence of wonder and awe of Christ. As part of this revival, Holy Child Jesus Parish will have an additional Adoration and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on every third Friday of every month between 9:00 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. with Benediction to follow at 7:00 p.m. We will be in the presence of Christ, worship him, praise him, talk to him. We can rest in his arms, be peaceful knowing that he loves us. Sign-up for one-hour adoration times for is available HERE, by calling the Rectory at (773) 764-0615, or filling out the form at the back of church. Spend some time with Jesus!
Holy Child Jesus Parish is happy to announce that our parishioner Ronabel Castillo has been named as Director of Youth Formation. She and Fr. Arthur will be working together to form and build up the role of youth in our parish. We often hear that our young people are our future. It is even more true that young people are our present. Our youth have so many talents, skills, and abilities that they are sharing with us right now to spread the Good News, to serve God and the people. Our parish is committed to nurturing and growing these gifts. All of us, young and old, are children of God. All of us can teach one another, all of us can learn from one another.
